If you are looking for an inexpensive source for understanding Finnish genealogical research, then this is the perfect book. Because of its small size, 28 pages, it is not packed with a grea deal of information. However, the information found in this book is very helpful. As a beginners guide, it sets out the 7 first steps for starting research in the original swedish records. Thompsen explains the types of records to be found and their contents. A list of common Finnish and Swedish given names is included as a very helpful tool, along with the Gothic alphabet. There is also a list of the counties and pariches of Finland, with maps to show locations for the counties and provinces of Finland. Other helpful tools include a list of common Finnish genealogical terms and a list of archives, libraries, and genealogical societies in Sweden, and a list of basic feference books.
