Finding Your Canadian Ancestors A Beginner's Guide by Sherry Irvine and Dave Obee

This book is long overdue. Understanding Canadian research can be a real challenge for most of us, and Finding Your Canadian Ancestors will help simplify the process. The book has 26 chapters, four appendixes, and an index. You will find lots of maps, pictures, diagrams, and charts to help aid you through the research process. Each type of record from census to vital records are broken down in great detail. First by record type and then according to province. There is a chapter on each of the ten provinces and one chapter for the three territories. There are separate chapters on finding geographical information and information about special groups, such as Aboriginals, Acadians, and Loyalists.

Other chapters include Libray and Archives in Canada, Immigration, Newspapers, Finding People, and Canadian geography. The four appendixes cover research techniques, pitfalls, using the Internet and timelines for Canadian history.

Have fun, and as the book states "The Quest For Your Canadian Ancestors Begins Here."
